3 Things to do in Copenhagen When it’s Raining
1. SHOPPING:
Home to some of the most beautiful Scandinavian furniture, Copenhagen is also a bit of a shopping haven for clothing too.
Whether you’re looking to browse high end fashion brands such as Prada and YSL, your standard high street fashion like H&M and Zara, or unique finds in a vintage or boutique store, Copenhagen has it all. In the centre, around Indre By, you’ll find everything you’re looking for.
Here are some of my recommendations for clothing stores that I enjoyed browsing:
- Boii Studios – A Danish women’s clothing company selling simple, staple pieces for your wardrobe. If like me, you’re a Zara girl, you’ll love the clothes here. Similar price tags to Zara but better quality!
- Bareen – a Danish brand. For both men and women, Bareen takes it back to basics with loungewear and gym wear. Find simple tees, hoodies, socks and more here. The clothing is really good quality, affordable prices and looks pretty cool so it’s definitely worth a look.
When it comes to Scandi furniture, there are stores everywhere, and I mean everywhere. They’re a great way to hide from the rain – take a seat in some of the comfiest chairs you’ll ever come across and browse some gorgeous furniture.
Stores you should explore:
- Normann Copenhagen – I stumbled across this by accident but I’m so glad I did! Head here to check out their immaculate showrooms and furniture displays and you’ll likely have the whole place to yourself.
- Hay House – a super cool store selling gorgeous furniture and accessories. It’s located on the 2nd floor so you get some really lovely views of the centre.
2. FOOD:
Going for food is a great way to escape from the rain whilst experiencing all the great options that Copenhagen has to offer.
Food spots in Copenhagen you have to try:
- Gasoline Grill – Potentially the best burger in Copenhagen… I said it, now you have to try it! The original Gasoline Grill is based near Gothersgade and is designed as an actual gas station – so cool! Their other locations don’t look as cool but don’t tend to sell out as quickly. They’re open everyday from 11am until sold out so make sure not to get there too late as they’re usually sold out by around 5pm. They also allow you to choose anything from their menu and make it vegetarian!
- Juno is a lovely breakfast spot in Osterbro. Expect long queues but it’s so worth it. The almond croissant tasted as good as it looks…
- Prolog coffee serves the best coffee in Copenhagen – you’ll notice that lots of other coffee spots stock Prolog’s coffee. It might be raining but don’t let it stop you from trying their iced coffee – this was the best coffee I had in Copenhagen.
- Torvehallerne market hall, located in Indre By and by Norreport Station makes it super easy to reach and the perfect place to head to when it’s raining in Copenhagen. Stroll around the market to find a wide selection of stalls selling local produce including fresh vegetables, exotic spices, soaps and candles. You’ll also find a wide variety of food stalls to choose from for the perfect lunch or snack!
3. MUSEUMS:
When the weather takes a turn, Copenhagen’s world-class museums provide the perfect indoor escape. Whether you’re a history buff, an art enthusiast, or just seeking a cozy cultural experience, these must-visit spots have you covered:
- National Museum of Denmark – Journey through Danish history with exhibits ranging from Viking treasures to royal artifacts.
- Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek – Marvel at stunning sculptures and impressionist paintings in a breathtaking setting.
- Statens Museum for Kunst (SMK) – Denmark’s National Gallery, featuring a vast collection of Danish and international art.
- Designmuseum Denmark – Dive into Denmark’s iconic design legacy, showcasing furniture, fashion, and more.
Rainy days in Copenhagen are the perfect excuse to indulge in the city’s rich cultural scene!
